What is cold-process soap?

There are a few different methods when it comes to making soap. At The Handmade Bar, we use the cold process method. This method involves combining hand-selected oils and butters together with a lye solution (sodium hydroxide and distilled water) which goes through a chemical reaction called saponification. By definition, soap is not truly considered soap if there is no saponification. Because we have the option to customize the soap, it is not made from pre-made bases that may have unknown synthetic ingredients. Our recipes are carefully formulated with your skin in mind, with wholesome and nourishing ingredients that are free of chemicals that can harm the skin and disrupt the body's system. We have collections that do not contain any fragrance oils or essential oils for those who prefer a “clean” soap. We also have collections that do have essential oils and phthalate-free fragrance oils for those who prefer a scented soap. At the Handmade Bar, you will always receive a quality product made with ingredients that are natural and healthy for the skin and body.
